SeaGuardian® BIO Resin
A neutrally buoyant, pumpable fill material designed to fully displace fluids and gases in subsea systems during offshore decommissioning.
Product Overview
SeaGuardian® BIO Resin is a neutrally buoyant, pumpable fill material designed to fully displace fluids and gases in subsea systems during offshore decommissioning. Engineered for long residence time in complex subsea geometries, it flows throughout piping, risers, and vessels, creating a stable internal barrier against corrosion, collapse, or recontamination. Following recovery, the resin can be easily dissolved with warm water or biodegradable surfactant solution, enabling rapid cleaning and reuse of recovered infrastructure.
Intent of product is to greatly aid offshore decommissioning activities where spill to ocean avoidance is paramount. By filling the systems and displacing or locking in any potential spill materials this is achieved.
Gel Behaviour & Thermal Breakdown
-
SeaGuardian® BIO Resin forms a stable, thermoreversible gel once injected into subsea systems.
-
The gelation occurs naturally at subsea temperatures typical in Australia (10–25 °C), allowing the resin to remain in place during disconnection and recovery.
-
Upon surface recovery, the gel can be rapidly broken down with hot water (>70 °C) or low-pressure steam, enabling full dissolution and system cleaning without manual scraping.
-
This behaviour allows the resin to provide secure displacement subsea, while remaining non-permanent and easy to remove topside.
